Taracea is a traditional artisanal technique of wood inlay (also known as intarsia or marquetry), where small, precisely cut pieces of different woods, and sometimes other materials like mother-of-pearl, bone, or metal, are meticulously fitted together to create intricate decorative patterns.
Originating from Moorish traditions and flourishing in places like Granada, Spain since the 14th century, Taracea is celebrated for its geometric precision, rich color contrasts, and stunning visual depth. Artisans combine woods of varying tones and grains to form stars, rosettes, borders, and complex motifs that transform ordinary wooden surfaces into works of art.
Juan blends this centuries-old craft with contemporary designs, resulting in beautiful pieces and that highlight the natural beauty and storytelling power of wood.
